Let's Cook...Greek Easter Koulourakia à la Savouidakis!

Fragrant with citrus and vanilla, firm enough for dunking and delightfully crumbly with every bite. Made with the fruity richness of SAVOU Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, these traditional Easter cookies develop their signature texture and a depth of flavor that is both memorable and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 310g sugar
  • 310ml SAVOU Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Zest and juice of 2 oranges
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs + 2 egg yolks
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • 800–845g all-purpose flour
  • 6g baking powder
  • 3 tbsp water

Method

  • Whisk together the olive oil and sugar until well combined.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the orange zest and vanilla extract.
  • Dissolve the baking soda in the orange juice and add it to the mixture.
  • Gradually sift in the flour and baking powder, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Allow the dough to rest for 20 minutes.
  • Shape into small braids or traditional koulourakia shapes.
  • Mix the egg yolks with the water and brush over the cookies.
  • Bake in a preheated fan oven at 160°C for approximately 25 minutes, or until beautifully golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely and store in an airtight container.

Enjoy your Koulourakia à la Savouidakis during Easter celebrations, alongside your morning coffee, in a lunchbox, or simply whenever you crave a taste of Greek tradition.
