Meatballs with red sauce
Ingredients
• 450 g beef mince
• 450 g pork mince
• 3 (+1 separate) cloves of garlic, finely chopped
• 1/2 cup of finely chopped onions
• 1/2 cup of milk
• 1/2 cup of white bread
• Grated parmesan cheese for serving
• 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
• 1 egg
• Pdo Sitia Extra Virgin Olive Oil "Golden Creta Savouidakis"
• 1 potato
• Salt and pepper
Execution
• In a large bowl, soak the break in milk for approx. 5-10 mins.
• Mix the beef and pork mince, the soaked bread, 1 clove of garlic, the onion, the egg, the parmesan cheese and the parsley together.
• Add salt and pepper depending on how spicy you want the meatballs to be and knead the mixture well.
• Make small meatballs and put them aside for a short time to rest.
• Pour the Pdo Sitia Extra Virgin Olive Oil "Golden Creta Savouidakis" in a large pan over medium heat and fry the meatballs for approx. 10 mins each, until golden brown.
• When you remove them from the pan, place them on a plate with paper to absorb the excess oil.
• When you finish frying, clean the pan and prepare the marinade.
• Heat some Pdo Sitia Extra Virgin Olive Oil "Golden Creta Savouidakis" and sauté the 3 gloves of garlic until golden brown (approx. 3 mins); then, add the tomato sauce, the salt and pepper and the basil.
• Allow the sauce to come to a boil and add the meatballs.
• Cover the pan with a lid and leave the meatballs to boil for 12 mins.
• Serve the meatballs on spaghetti or french fries with plenty of grated parmesan cheese.
